Renault Trucks has withdrawn from next year’s Commercial Vehicle Show, but is committed to returning in 2010.
The French manufacturer joins Scania, DAF and Isuzu on the list of truck-makers that have pulled out of the show.
Renault Trucks MD Laurent Farman says: “Next year is going to be tough. Like all businesses, although we have a lot of positive developments under way, it is crucial that we tightly manage our operating costs during difficult periods. In the light of the current economic
climate we feel it is more appropriate to dedicate our resources to more direct and quantifiable actions, such as supporting our dealer network in promoting Renault Trucks, its products and its services, at a local level.”
Detailing other news, Farman reveals that Capital Anglian Truck & Van (formerly Norfolk Trucks) has become a Renault distributor with sites in Enfield, Norwich and Beccles. Euro Truck Centre in Dundee has also come in board as an authorised Renault repairer.
In September 2009, Renault Truck Commercials will open a new distributor site at Coventry. It will be managed by Chris Hammond, dealer principal of Renault Trucks Midlands (Tipton).
Farman says Renault will focus on workshop performance, parts availability and roadside assistance next year.
