Krone's wheelbase control takes off

Wednesday 26 November 2008 12:00

German trailer firm Krone says it has received a lot of operator interest in its new dynamic wheelbase control and automatic shunting aid (DWC), designed to reduce the risk of rear-axle overloading. The DWC unit controls the air suspension to alter the wheel gauge and reduce air pressure on the third trailer axle, taking pressure off the coupling plate.

Krone's DWC system is particularly suited to uneven load distribution and diminishing loads. It also works as an automatic shunting aid by reducing trailer rear-axle pressure during tight manoeuvres at speeds of 1.8km/h to 30 km/h. Krone offers the new DWC system for three-axle trailers, which are equipped with Wabco EBS modulators and trailer tyres suited to a load capacity of 9,000 kg.
