Woolworths collapse may cost Wincanton jobs

02 December 2008

Up to 188 Wincanton staff may lose their jobs following retail group Woolworths' collapse into administration. The logistics company confirms it is entering into a formal redundancy consultation with 188 members of staff working on transport operations for Woolworths.

These employees, based at Castleton, Dorset and Swindon, Wiltshire, are mostly drivers. Wincanton says it will redeploy as many of them as possible across the network.

Although Woolworths fell into administration on 26 November, Wincanton is still continuing to make deliveries for the store. It is currently liaising with Woolworths to keep track of any developments that will affect its employees.
