The 2009 MAN everywoman in Transport & Logistics Awards are now open for entries. The awards, in association with Skills for Logistics (SfL) and supported by MT, are designed to highlight the contributions women make in the industry and to encourage more women to pursue a career in the sector. Following the success of the inaugural awards this summer, the categories have been revised and improved. The categories are:
Maxine Benson, co-founder and director of everywoman, says: "The gender boundaries are gradually being broken down, and these awards are demonstrating that transport and logistics is a sector where women can prosper and succeed."
MAN Truck & Bus UK chief executive Des Evans adds: "If the calibre of last year's nominees and winners are anything to go by, these awards are a testament to all the women working within this sector."
"Workforce diversity is a key factor in ensuring that the logistics sector moves forward," says SfL CEO Dr Mick Jackson. The deadline for nominations is 27 February 2009. The award winners will be revealed at a gala lunch at the Marriot Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London on 14 May.
