P&J Dust Extraction has cited reliability and security as its reasons for acquiring five Mercedes-Benz Vito 109 CDIs from dealership Sparshatts of Kent.
Jane Bastow, director of P&J Dust Extraction, which extracts dust and fumes from the workplace, says: "Our Mercedes Vitos typically cover 40,000 miles a year and we've found that unlike other types of van we've run in the past, they are very robust and able to cope with these mileages.
"We've also been able to cut down dramatically on incidences of theft from our vehicles since we switched to Mercedes-Benz. We travel with test equipment which is of no use to anyone else but nevertheless very expensive, so security is a high priority.
"In addition to the standard immobiliser, we fit Thatcham Category 1 alarms and special armoured locks on the doors, as well as solid bulkheads – which means that even if thieves manage to break into the cab they cannot access the rear cargo area."
