South Cambridgeshire MP Andrew Lansley has written to DfT minister Jim Fitzpatrick to call for a lorry overtaking ban on the M11.
Lansley believes a ban on HGV overtaking between J8 and J9 near Stansted will ease congestion in the area.
The two-lane section is often congested because of lorries in the outside lane, Lansley says.
"This is a long stretch of motorway with no entries or exits. This makes it very suitable for an HGV overtaking ban," he adds.
