The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has dismissed suggestions that drivers will have to declare every 10 years whether they are medically able to get behind the wheel.
According to reports over Christmas, the DVLA was looking to issue a series of minimum physical and mental requirements that all motorists must fulfil in order to be roadworthy. This would include eyesight performance and reaction times.
However a spokesman for the DVLA told Commercial Motor it was awaiting the results of a driver medical health licensing review later this year.
"Right now there are not any recommendations per se. We are going into consultation and we will look at all aspects. Anything we look into would be for all drivers across the board."
