Bath and North East Somerset Council is to show businesses and hauliers delivering into Bath how a freight consolidation centre works in Bristol.
The council has been awarded European funding to develop a consolidation centre and reduce the number of HGVs travelling into the city. It hopes to use electric-powered vehicles to take goods from a warehouse on the outskirts of the town into the city centre.
However before launching a pilot it is to show hauliers and local businesses the consolidation centre in Bristol, which is run by DHL Exel Supply Chain.
Bath city centre manager Andrew Cooper says the scheme has been very successful in Bristol and believes a similar idea could work well in Bath.
