DfT consultation on the 2012 Olympic games

Wednesday 28 January 2009 04:52

The DfT's consultation on traffic management measures in the run-up to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games is open and closes on 19 March.

The main focus of the consultation is the proposal for an Olympic Route Network (ORN) to allow the swift and easy movement of athletes, officials and dignitaries.

The consultation states designated Olympic-priority lanes will be considered, but adds: "The majority of roads included in the ORN will be available for use by traffic as normal."

Highway modifications and traffic signal works are also expected to ensure the enforcement of temporary traffic management, as are "changes to permitted manoeuvres: restricted/prohibited access for general traffic, no right/left turns, restricted parking, waiting and loading".

The Olympic Games run from 27 July until 12 August the Paralympic Games from 29 August until 9 September. The consultation can be viewed target=_new>here.
