NYK Logistics loses contract with PC World

Thursday 29 January 2009 10:42

NYK Logistics has lost its contract with PC World, but more than 200 staff could be transferred to a facility belonging to the computer retailer's parent, DSG, under TUPE agreement. DSG has decided to relocate from NYK's Brackmills, Northampton site to its own warehouse in Newark, Notts.

More than 200 people are employed on the contract at Brackmills and NYK has worked with PC World for over three years.

NYK's operations and business improvement director, Ian Smith, says: "NYK Logistics is in discussion with its staff about the situation. Our understanding is TUPE transfer regulations will apply.

"The proposed timings indicate that existing stock will be transferred from Brackmills to Newark over the course of the next four to five weeks."

The group says it will work with PC World to ensure an orderly handover process.
