PC World takes transport back in-house

11 February 2009

IT retailer PC World says it is bringing its transport operation back in-house in a massive cost-cutting exercise.

The move will end a three-year relationship with NYK Logistics, affecting 200 staff who may have to consider moving 75 miles from the contract's current base at Northampton to a site in Newark, Notts.

NYK operations and business improvement director Ian Smith says: "The proposed timings  indicate that existing stock will be transferred from Brackmills to Newark over the course of the next four to five weeks.

"NYK is in discussion with its staff about this situation. Our understanding is TUPE transfer regulations will apply."
