Hopwells first to get Isuzu's new 12-tonners

16 February 2009

Frozen food distributor Hopwells has added a dozen 12-tonne Isuzu Forward trucks to its existing 100-vehicle mixed fleet. The Euro-4 Forward F120.240 rigids are the first production models to enter the UK and will strengthen the company's current fleet of Renault Midlums and other Isuzus  on multi-drop cycles throughout central England.

David Williams, Hopwells' fleet manager, says: "Our distribution schedules are based on time-sensitive deliveries - and with Isuzu, reliability is the key. On average, the trucks will have between 25 and 30 drops per day are they are expected to cover in excess of 100,000 miles a year."

Hopwells' latest acquisitions replace MAN TGL 12.225s and Iveco 130s, which have come to the end of their five-year operating life.

Williams says: "We have had Isuzu 7.5-tonne rigids in our fleet for many years now and their performance has been impressive. The new 12-tonne Isuzu trucks continue the Isuzu philosophy of maximising payload, combined with all-round performance."

Don't miss the 5 March issue of Commercial  Motor magazine, where we pit one of Hopwells' 12-tonne Isuzu Forward trucks against a 7.5- and 18-tonner in an exclusive productivity test.
