Volvo FH16 'ideally suited' for Welsh countryside

17 February 2009

Haulier DAJ Evans has purchased a Volvo FH16 6x2 tractor unit, which it says is ideally suited to working in the hilly Welsh countryside.

Finished in the company's orange livery, the 580hp truck joins DAJ Evans' current fleet of seven Volvos delivering aggregate and sand across west Wales.

Company founder Alan Evans says: "It's a question of reliability and service. I bought the first Volvo F86 in Wales  back in 1972 and the first Volvo eight-wheeler four years later."

Evans believes the FH16 is perfect for operating in west Wales. "It's very hilly terrain so you need plenty of power and torque as well as a good engine brake, which the FH16 certainly has."

The company also has an FM480 8x4 tipper on order, which is expected to be delivered in "early 2009".
