Navman calls for TrustMark for telematics

17 February 2009

Telematics specialist Navman Wireless has called on the government to introduce a national standard for tracking and navigation equipment suppliers.

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) already runs a similar scheme known as TrustMark for  the building sector, and Navman executive vice-president Tony Neill believes a similar programme should be introduced for telematics providers.

Neill says telematics can save companies thousands of pounds, but only if the company behind the system remains in business.

"I think at this time of economic recession, customers should be given a standard like the TrustMark to help them decide which telematics providers are likely to be in it for the long haul."

BERR was not available for comment.
