Police to install cameras at crime hotspot

Friday 20 February 2009 14:59

Northamptonshire Police has secured £350,000 of funding from the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation (WNDC) to purchase number-plate recognition cameras for a notorious truck-crime hotspot.

By 31 March, the CCTV equipment will be set up in the 180-unit Brackmills Industrial Estate.

Northamptonshire Police crime-prevention manager Mike Franklin says the equipment will enable them to view footage for up to two years after it is filmed. "It is a complex system, so is likely to deter criminals," he adds.
