VOSA has confirmed the dates of the first testing stations to close as it embarks upon transferring tests to Authorised Testing Facilities (ATFs).
VOSA customer director Kevin Rooney has told RT.com the following:
- Steeton, Bradford will close on 23 April.
- Bredbury, Stockport will close on 7 May.
- A decision on the date of closure for Par (St Austell), Cornwall will be announced by the end of March, but there will be a minimum of three months' notice before closure.
ATFs will be run by operators and maintenance providers, but testing itself will continue to be run exclusively by VOSA staff. The Department for Transport (DfT) has called for 85% of tests to be delivered at ATFs by 2013.
