The newly formed Professional Drivers Foundation (PDF), a charity designed to help drivers and their families who fall on hard times, benefited from a donation of over £1,000 raised by the members of the TruckNet UK forums at their annual post-Christmas party.
The event, supported by TruckNet UK and
Roadtransport.com owner RBI, is held at Longford House in Cannock and every year includes a chaotic 'comedy' auction. This year items kindly donated by truck manufacturers Renault, Scania and Volvo were auctioned to raise the astounding amount.
The PDF was chosen as the beneficiary of this year's event in memory of TruckNet UK member Andy Gormanly. Gormanly was one of the people behind the idea of the PDF and his family were the first people helped by the new organisation after his tragic death in a road traffic accident earlier this year.
