Kuehne + Nagel (K+N) has taken over a unit at the Walsall freight terminal, which it will operate for a new customer.
The transport firm has taken 24,000ft2 (2,230m2) of space - with an option to expand to 51,000ft2 (4,740m2) - at the former DSV site.
K+N is unable to name the customer, but a spokesman says it is in a new area of business which it is hoping to develop.
Meanwhile, K+N is buying Norwegian oil and gas industry logistics provider J Martens for an undisclosed sum.
J Martens currently has offices in Aberdeen and Newcastle upon Tyne.
