Border Agency sniffer dog uncovers six immigrants

A sniffer dog has succeeded in finding six Eritrean illegal immigrants trying to enter the UK in a lorry loaded with bicycle helmets.

The load, which was headed for Lichfield, Staffs in a Slovak - registered truck, was searched by a UK Border Agency (UKBA) sniffer dog at Calais on 3 March.

The lorry was stopped before it could board a ferry to cross the channel at 09.15. Five men and a woman were discovered inside.

The stowaways were handed over to the French authorities.
