Former Christian Salvesen CEO Stewart Oades has been appointed the new president of the Freight Transport Association (FTA).
With more than 30 years' experience in the logistics industry, he replaces current president Andy Haines, who steps down at the end of his two-year term in April.
Oades, chairman of Wesupply and a non-executive director of Clipper Logistics Group, has been on the FTA board since 2007.
He is also a director of GS1 (UK), the global standards organisation and a director and trustee of charity Transaid.
Haines, logistics director at Tate & Lyle Sugars Europe, will remain on the FTA board.
