Tinnelly Transport, the firm that bought the assets of collapsed Northern Irish haulier Tinnelly International Transport, has set up a site in Preston.
The company says the operation on the Redscar Business Park is a "service centre" to wash and maintain its fleet while it operates in the UK. Although staff at the site told Motor Transport that vehicle operation was "run from Ireland", paperwork from the Preston operation seen by MT refers to a transport manager, although when we queried this with the site, we were told the individual was "a driver".
According to a leading transport lawyer, the company should have an O-licence for the site regardless of what it is calling it. VOSA says there is no O-licence application for the site.
North-Western TC Beverley Bell, who at a public inquiry described Kevin Tinnelly (who runs Tinnelly Transport) as "highly non-compliant", has now sent her findings to the Northern Irish licensing authorities.
Kevin Tinnelly was unavailable to comment.
