Ford has achieved a record market share of 28.8% for March despite a dramatic 43% fall in overall LCV sales.
The figure, based on 10,136 vehicle sales for the month, is the highest since November 2000 when Ford took 30.4% of the market, although compared with the same period in March 2008, sales have fallen by 38%.
Ford's total CV sales for the first three months of the year have dropped by 46,318 units compared with 2008.
Steve Kimber, Ford commercial vehicle director, says: "The results mean that one in every three commercial vehicles sold in March was a Ford. It is further proof that, especially in the current climate, operating costs are at the fore of everyone's mind."
