Return loads website gets revamp

01 May 2009

Triple A Transport has today unveiled its revamped return loads web service, which now automatically alerts hauliers when a load becomes available in their area. The Tilbury, Essex-based haulier set up www.returnloads.net eight years ago as a free-to-use site for customers wanting to advertise excess loads and for hauliers looking for backloads.

With the site rapidly growing  and receiving thousands of hits every week, Triple A managing director Richard Newbold decided six months ago to bring in a web design team to add new features and make it more efficient. As a result, it has now become a paid-for, subscription service.

Newbold tells Roadtransport.com: "The most important new function is in the notification process. When a subscriber places a load on to the site, it will automatically notify [via email] all registered members in the area to which the load is going."

He adds that this function also works the other way round.

"If a haulier has a vehicle which is due to become empty in a certain region of the country, he can place this notification on to the site and it will inform all potential customers in that area that there is an empty truck available. On the old site, users had to keep logging on and looking for updated loads," says Newbold.

Triple A is currently offering hauliers a free two-month trial of the service, after  which a cost of £29.95 per month will apply. Subscribers are free to cancel their subscription at any time without incurring a charge.
