Future of LDV hangs in balance

05 May 2009

The future of Birmingham-based van-maker LDV was hanging in the balance as CM went to press, with the company holding last-ditch talks with potential bidders.

LDV applied to go into administration last week, and the company stated it would keep looking for funding right up until its application was processed on 6 May, to save 850 jobs at the plant in Washwood Heath.

Employees were advised by the company to collect their payslips from the factory today (5 May).

Malaysian vehicle importer Weststar has been rumoured as a possible bidder for the firm.

Guy Jones, LDV PR and marketing director, says: "We cannot comment on any potential bids for the company, but talks have continued with interested parties over the weekend and we hope a deal can be secured."
