Home delivery business Ocado has ordered five refrigerated double-deck trailers to meet demand. Built by Paneltech of Hull, the tri-axle, air-suspended, fixed-deck trailers feature ThermoKing Stirling refrigeration units adapted to keep each deck at a different temperature to allow a mixed cargo.
The fridge unit and exhaust outlet have been extended to match the roof profile and improve both appearance and aerodynamics. Designed for a seven-year life, the tractors will run with tri-axle Mercedes-Benz Axor units on inter-depot deliveries. The trailers will be leased from Hitachi Capital Commercial Vehicle Services.
