NYK signs two-year deal with Nissan

Tuesday 02 June 2009 11:35

NYK Logistics has begun a two-year partnership with Nissan Motor Manufacturing to deliver approximately 800 different component lines to the automotive giant's Sunderland plant. NYK takes over the contract from Ryder, after Ryder announced in December 2008 that it would discontinue its UK logistics operations during 2009.

Under the deal, NYK will collect components from up to 47 UK suppliers and operate from its Castleford, West Yorkshire site, with regional support from depots in Avonmouth and Milton Keynes.

Steve Russell, business development director at the logistics company, says: "This is great news that builds on the quality of service that we have provided to Nissan in Eastern Europe." Blyth-based Fergusons Transport will also continue to work with Nissan.
