Asda applies for new store on Heanor Haulage site

08 June 2009

Asda has submitted a planning application to build a new store on the site of the Heanor Haulage depot in Langley Mill.

The £25m proposals are for a 36,000ft2 facility with 354 car parking spaces and have just been presented to Amber Valley Borough Council (AVBC). They are expected to create up to 300 new jobs in the Derbyshire town.

It has not been  revealed how much the supermarket is paying the heavy haulage specialist. A linked application has also been submitted by the haulier for new housing on the site's north-west corner.

Heanor Haulage will retain a presence on the site with a rebuilt main office and a new workshop. The plans are due to be debated by the AVBC's planning committee before the end of the year.
