The haulage arm of Grimer's Transport has fallen into administration after years of foreign competition has weakened its business.
On 1 May, administrator Begbies Traynor was appointed to the firm, which operated freehold premises at Billingborough, Lincolnshire and Wakefield, West Yorks.
It was hoped that a sale of the Wakefield site would generate "much-needed" cash for the business, but a spokeswoman for Begbies says: "With the collapse in demand for commercial property, and the director having considered his fiduciary duties, Begbies was appointed."
She adds: "Over the past couple of years, Grimer's Transport has suffered from the general squeeze that has been placed on the UK haulage market from foreign competitors."
The transport arm of the business ceased trading on 5 May, while the storage side of the firm is continuing to trade to maximise possible realisations for all creditors.
VOSA records show the group had an O-licence for 10 vehicles and 15 trailers. An online auction will take place between 22-24 June for company assets under chartered surveyors Eddisons.
