MAN opens flagship Manchester dealership

24 June 2009

Truck manufacturer MAN has opened a new £9m flagship dealership in Manchester, which includes a one-stop-shop body-build facility. The 4,250m² truck and bus site on Trafford Park will house new and used sales, driver training, a dedicated VOSA test lane, an ADR lane for pet-reg vehicles, and 22 service bays. It will open 24-hours a day.

Roy Morton, centre head, MAN Midlands, which includes Manchester, says: "You only have to look at the state-of-the-art facility to see that MAN means  business.

"We can help operators be successful with a fast and efficient site."

MAN Truck & Bus Manchester can also add bodies and specialist equipment to chassis with its one-stop-shop Special Fitment Centre (SFC). The SFC and the workshop are headed up by the sites' aftermarket director Ian McLean, who has 40 technicians and eight apprentices, operating a three-shift rota providing more than 5,000 service hours per month.

"We would like to raise that to 6,000 once we get the site fully operational. Our catchment area includes all the M-postcodes, up to Bolton, Rochdale and Bury, which is a vehicle parc of 17,000 units."
