Masternaut launches speed alert service

25 June 2009

Vehicle tracking firm Masternaut Three X has launched a service that provides fleet managers with an instant alert if a driver breaks the speed limit.

As well as helping companies comply with the law, Masternaut Three X calculates that if each of the 55,000 vehicles being monitored by its tracking system cut its speed by 10%, it would lead to savings of around £5m per year.

Masternaut managing director Martin Port says the  new system - available through its GreenerFleet software - is designed to help operators meet their duty-of-care obligations.

He adds: "It alerts fleet managers and drivers of the actual speed of the vehicle relative to local speed restrictions.

"This is a major step forward for satellite vehicle tracking as this is the first time that speed restriction monitoring has been made available for all types of roads."
