Meachers wins 'long-term' contract with Huhtamaki

25 June 2009

Meachers Group has won a "long-term" contract to act as a logistics one-stop shop for packaging manufacturer Huhtamaki.

Under the contract, which was previously held by Wincanton, Southampton-based Meachers will run the transportation, warehousing and freight forwarding for Huhtamaki,  which produces paper and plastic products. Meachers managing director Bob Terris says the partnership is set to be a long-term one.

"We did not have to undercut prices but we were able to offer a local one-stop with a dedicated and efficient service," he adds.

The group has purchased 12 Iveco trucks and employed 15 new members of staff to cope with the additional work. The win comes shortly after the company reported a rise in pre-tax profits and turnover.
