Llandrindod Wells in Mid Wales will be the fourth testing station to close this year, VOSA reveals.
As part of plans by the Department for Transport to shift 85% of tests to privately run Authorised Testing Facilities (ATFs) by 2013, VOSA has confirmed that the Llandrindod station will close on 25 September.
The decision follows the closure of stations at Par (St Austell) and Bredbury, Stockport. The Steeton, Bradford site is also expected to shut before the end of the year.
Alex Fiddes, VOSA chief operating officer, says: "Taking our services to the customer reduces the amount of vehicle downtime and, as a result, is more economical for operators."
A customer seminar will take place in the region on 15 July to discuss the closure and future testing arrangements.
