Tripod Crest acquires triaxle trailer from Andover

03 July 2009

Tripod Crest has acquired a triaxle drawbar trailer to carry fully fuelled cold milling machines to jobs across the UK.

The Northampton-based road planing company has taken delivery of the 10.4m-long, 4,580kg trailer from Andover Trailers, which will be used with a Scania P380 6x2 rigid tipper to transport Wirtgen  W100F machines.

The trailer is fitted with a Knorr-Bremse EBS braking system and air suspension with a raise/lower control, as well as a lightweight Obeche timber floor.

Jim Tough, plant director at Tripod Crest, says: "The specification had to include a longer frame, ramps constructed from high-grade steels, and hydraulic steady legs to make the loading and unloading of the 18.6-tonne machine easier when at motorway and major trunk-road construction sites.

"The drawbar trailer design includes a lightweight frame and aluminium wheels, allowing Tripod Crest to transport the cold milling machine fully fuelled."
