LD scraps Dover-Dieppe ferry route

06 July 2009

LD Lines has scrapped its overnight ferry service between Dover and Dieppe because it was not getting enough business.

A spokesman for the group says that traffic volumes on the route, which was only introduced in February, had "simply not materialised, so a commercial decision had to be made".

But he adds that the vessel operating the route, the (ITALS)Cote d'Albatre(CLOSEITALS), would continue to do two daytime trips to Boulogne  each day alongside the new high-speed freight-carrying catamaran, which LD introduced from Dover-Boulogne last month(June).

LD Lines says that volumes on the Boulogne route are very good and that there is no danger that these will be scrapped.
