Rawlings is now director at John Mack (Haulage) UK

09 July 2009

A company set up shortly before the administration of Norfolk-based John Mack (Haulage), trading from the same address and with the same contact details, has now appointed the same director - Alex Rawlings - to run it.

Rawlings was at the centre of highly leveraged deals that saw him become director of Eric Short Haulage, European Freight Link and John Mack (Haulage) before they all hit financial problems within 18 months.

Eric  Short Haulage was later bought by The Logistix Group for £25,000 (CM 2 July), however the original owners of both Eric Short Haulage and John Mack (Haulage) tell Commercial Motor they are currently in dispute with Rawlings and his business associate Shahid Hussain over unpaid money relating to both their sales ('Short on answers', CM 18 June).

On 6 May a new company, John Mack (Haulage) UK, was created with the same registered address and telephone number and staff, but with a new director - Jeff Hague. Rawlings was listed as a shareholder.

But Companies House documents reveal that Rawlings took over as director two days before Hague resigned. In addition, Bibby Financial Services has created a debenture (an unsecured corporate bond) on the new John Mack business as security.

Rawlings did not return calls as CM went to press.
