The courier and parcels arm of DHL Supply Chain is axing 35 jobs as a result of declining volumes in the East Midlands Airport and Castle Donington area. DHL Express has confirmed that 35 employees will be made redundant following reviews of its international customer services and telesales divisions.
"DHL is unfortunately not immune to the current economic downturn, which has seen us experience decline in volumes and modal shifts," says a company spokesman.
"As a result we are working very hard on improving our efficiency and ensuring our business structure and focus allow us to fully support our customers and maintain our market-leading position in what is a very challenging marketplace."
