The Freight Transport Association (FTA) wants to test drivers' walk-round skills, and is offering a £350 satellite navigation unit as a prize for the best fault-finder.
The challenge, which will be covered by Truck & Driver magazine, will take place at South Mimms Services at Junction 23 of the M25 on 19 August between 11am and 1pm.
Drivers who take part will have to spot as many defects as possible on a specially rigged Mercedes-Benz Actros. Afterwards they will be shown the FTA's new walk-round DVD and asked to take the challenge again.
The driver who spots the most defects will win a TomTom Go 530 Truck Satellite Navigation Unit and SD card worth more than £350.
