Used LCV prices predicted to improve for rest of 2009

07 August 2009

Used LCV prices are predicted to further improve in 2009 due to unseasonably high levels of demand and limited supplies of quality examples.

George Alexander, Glass's Guide used CV editor, says: "Any marked upturn in the UK's fiscal fortunes over the remainder of the year will provide the opportunity to rebuild business  profitability and set the scene for a significantly better 2010."

However, he adds, LCV prices could fluctuate in line with the volumes of supply on offer.

Clean, late-year commercial vehicles are unlikely to be defleeted until businesses are prepared to purchase new replacements. In turn, this is unlikely to generate a large number of desirable units entering the market.

Clean, low-mileage used vans are attracting the most attention at auctions, and they continue to sell with ease as trade buyers and end users compete for the best lots.

"Until registrations of new units show any increase, there is little to suggest demand for these late-year used vehicles will fall away," believes Alexander.
