Brewery orders Bevan-built aerodynamic rigid

24 August 2009

Lancashire-based Moorhouse's Brewery expects to save more than 5% on fuel costs after taking delivery of the first aerodynamic Bevan21 curstainsider from bodybuilder Bevan Group.

David Grant, MD of the Burnley-based brewery, says: "With an increasing number of aerodynamic semi-trailers appearing on the roads, it made sense that the innovative Bevan21 design would work  on a rigid too. We are hoping to achieve fuel efficiencies of around 5%, but it is early days yet."

The rigid version was tested by Commercial Motor and produced a 15% saving on fuel economy. The curtainsider version, fitted to a 12-tonne Mercedes Benz Atego, has a curved roof at the front, and a specifically moulded air deflector and cab collar.
