Europa European Express, trading as Europa Worldwide Logistics, has reported a 4% rise in turnover and a 5% drop in pre-tax profit for the year ended 31 December 2008.
The firm, which offers road haulage alongside air and sea freight services, saw turnover rise to £58.9m, from £56.4m in 2007, while pre-tax profit fell from £1.7m to £1.6m.
The directors' report states: "The business has performed well under difficult trading conditions."
A high increase in oil prices and a "significant weakening" of Sterling against the Euro and US Dollar in the latter part of 2008 contributed to a drop in margin, the company says.
Parent company EWG saw turnover last year rise 13% to £59m, from £52m for the 11 months to 31 December 2007, while pre-tax profit increased 3.6% to £1.9m.
