Trade unions back VOSA campaign

Wednesday 30 September 2009 10:12

The Unite, Prospect, and Public and Commercial Services trade unions have come onboard to back our Stop the VOSA Closures campaign.

Collectively known as the VOSA Trade Union Side (TUS), the three unions broadly support the campaign, but say their main objective is to ensure that Alternative Testing Facilities (ATFs) are seen as supplements to VOSA-run test stations rather than replacements.

Kevin Warden, VOSA TUS secretary, tells MT: "We are not opposed to change - we realise that some of our stations aren't best placed geographically and that we need a strategic network of stations fit for the 21st century.

"However, we are fearful that the whole strategy is becoming an estate disposal exercise rather than a service transformation programme."

In its first week, our campaign petition has gained 250 signatures.
