C Butt says vehicle tracking helped win Netto contract

Friday 09 October 2009 08:16

C Butt says its decision to fit Isotrak's vehicle tracking system to its fleet played a "crucial role" in securing the five-year Netto supermarket distribution contract.

The Northampton-based company has spent £9m on 63 trucks and 96 refrigerated trailers for the multi-million-pound deal, which was announced last month.

It has already had the GPS tracking equipment installed in 21 Mercedes-Benz tractor units, and its remaining 42 Scania tractors are due to be fitted with the systems in October.

C Butt is distributing to 193 stores from Netto's Distribution Centres (DCs) at South Elmsall, West Yorks and Daventry, Northants.

The company says the contract has secured the ongoing employment of approximately 150 staff that have transferred from two other third-party providers.

C Butt group operations director Karl Hodgkinson says: "Winning the five-year Netto contract confirmed our dedication to delivering quality logistics services.

"Isotrak systems are playing a fundamental role in underwriting our quality pledge."

Isotrak sales and marketing director Craig Sears-Black adds: "Through the utilisation of our systems, Netto will achieve the triple proven benefits of saving money, improved customer service and reduced carbon emissions."
