RAC launches new recovery service for larger vans

20 October 2009

The RAC has launched a rescue service for van fleets with vehicles up to 3.5-tonne GVW and 7.5m in length. The company claims the revised deal will save a business that has 12 vehicles over 5.5m in length more than £1,000 year, compared with the previous arrangement, which was a pay-on-use service.

Now offered as a subscription option, the scheme also includes the option of covering standard driver-induced faults such as flat batteries.

However, catastrophic faults such as fuel contaminations and road traffic accidents that require the deployment of a flat-bed vehicle will continue to be rescued under the commercial assistance umbrella at no extra charge.

Steve Whitmarsh, RAC Fleet Services senior partnership manager, says: "Previously, fleets had two separate call-out numbers, now there's only one, making the whole process smoother. Incorporating everything into one package also means customers will find it a lot easier to keep track of costs."
