European CV registrations have declined for the past 17 consecutive months, according to latest figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association.
September registrations were down 27.7% compared with the same month in 2008.
Vans under 3.5 tonnes were down 25.4%, while trucks over 3.5 tonnes fell 39.4%. Furthermore, heavy trucks over 16 tonnes were down 42.2%.
That said, the UK did buck the general trend for heavy trucks, with a 26.8% increase compared with September 2008, thanks in part to the ending of the reduced pollution certificate.
Germany and Italy, however, were both down more than 55%, while France and Spain were down 49.1% and 36.6% respectively.
