ND in talks with First Quench administrator

04 November 2009

First Quench Retailing (FQR), which owns the Threshers off-licence chain, reversed a decision to end a distribution contract with Norbert Dentressangle (ND) shortly before it went into administration.

In July, Motor Transport reported that 331 Norbert Dentressangle employees were due to transfer to FQR  following the drinks supplier's decision to take logistics back in-house.

However, since FQR entered administration last week, Phil Shaw, business unit director at ND Logistics UK, reveals that the retailer decided not to exit their agreement or transfer staff.

He adds: "ND is currently in discussions with the administrator and is unable to provide any further information at this stage."

FQR runs 1,202 Threshers, The Local, Wine Rack, Bottoms Up, Victoria Wine and Haddows stores.

Administrator KPMG will continue to trade the business while seeking a buyer.
