FreshLinc buys 15 DAFs for expansion plan

09 November 2009

Spalding, Lincolnshire-based chilled food distributor FreshLinc has taken delivery of 15 460hp Daf XF105s to support its UK operation and expansion into Europe.

Some of the new trucks act as fleet replacements for older MANs and Scanias, while the remaining vehicles add to FreshLinc's existing fleet of 148 vehicles.

Andy Marchant, fleet engineer at FreshLinc, says: "We are eventually looking to run a two-marque  fleet because it's more convenient for our operation as we have Daf and Scania dealers nearby. They service the vehicles out of hours, so there's never any downtime."

FreshLinc has also reduced the top speed of all of its vehicles to 54mph from 56mph to reduce fuel consumption.

Marchant says Daf's AS-Tronic automated transmission has also made fuel consumption figures more consistent across the fleet.
