Brake's Fleet Safety Forum Awards for Excellence are now open for entry. The awards, supported by Commercial Motor, recognise the achievements of those that have worked to reduce the number of crashes involving at-work drivers.
Any organisation running any type of fleet may enter; entries from suppliers of products or services to fleets are also welcome.
There are nine categories for entry:
- Road Risk Manager of the Year Award
- Company Driver Safety Award
- Fleet Safety Analysis and Action Award
- Safe Vehicles Award
- Eco Fleet Award
- Road Safety in the Community Award
- Fleet Safety Provider of the Year Award
- Fleet Safety Product Award
- Vehicle Manufacturer Award
The 10th category is the Kevin Storey Award for Outstanding Commitment to Road Safety. This is not open to entries, but nominations for a deserving recipient can be sent to fleetsafetyforum@brake.org.uk.
The deadline for entries is 12 April 2010. The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on 1 July at Chesford Grange, Warwickshire. Tickets cost £95 per seat or £900 for a table of 10. A year's subscription to the Fleet Safety Forum is free with every table booking.
Brake Fleet Safety Forum manager Roz Cumming says: "The Awards present a fantastic opportunity to receive national recognition for your commitment to fleet safety. We had a record number of entries in 2009, with more and more fleets acting positively to manage their risks. We hope to see the trend continuing into 2010."
Among the 2009 winners were: the Royal Mail (Fleet Safety Analysis and Action Award) and its senior asset control manager Mike Stockton (Road Risk Manager of the Year - large fleet); Peter Larner, MD of Suckling Transport (Road Risk Manager of the Year - small fleet).
