Truck drivers whose satellite navigation systems send them down a narrow Staffordshire lane are finding themselves hauled before the courts.
Staffordshire County Council acted earlier this year to try to stop trucks of more than six metres using Park Lane, Cheddleton.
Although a sign has been up for several months, trucks are still using the lane, and now police have started to prosecute.
Last week, truck driver Travis Andrews, 37, from Sheffield was fined £100 by North Staffordshire magistrates after admitting driving without due care and attention and causing damage to a corner wall. Another driver, Mark Garnett, 43, from Huddersfield, was fined £50 on the same day at the court for a similar offence.
A spokesman for Staffordshire County Council says there have been more than 100 incidents of trucks going down the lane, despite the signs, and that police have started to take action.
He says: "Police are now enforcing the signs."
