NYK Logistics has won a contract to run the warehousing operation for pharmaceutical firm Ranbaxy Laboratories, which will involve the handling of 23 million items per year.
From a Northampton-based 175,000sqft hub, NYK will handle goods before they are dispatched to hospitals and wholesalers for Ranbaxy, which is a subsidiary of the Daiichi-Sankyo Group.
The firm would not reveal the contract length or value.
The deal capped a mixed year for the logistics and distribution firm. It lost out in contracts with retailers PC World and Netto, however, it won a significant contract with Nissan and extended an existing contract with Samsung Electronic.
