New Actros for lifeboat service

Wednesday 10 March 2010 07:30

The work of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution doesn't just start when a lifeboat is launched in response to an emergency.

The charity has recently brought its boat and plant haulage operation in-house with the help of a Mercedes-Benz Actros 2546 MegaSpace, specced for 72-tonne STGO operation.

Some of the boats weigh 27 tonnes and are pulled by large tractors, which also need moving around the country.

The Poole-based Actros has the latest PowerShift 2 automated transmission and has 820 litres of fuel tanks fitted by SB Components International.
